What is your Shiitake wall shelf made of?

Your Shiitake mushroom wall shelf is made from PLA (polylactide) – a bioplastic derived from corn starch. No petroleum, no bad conscience.

What makes our process special:

Every Shiitake is 3D printed in our own manufactory in Heidelberg – not a mass-produced item, but genuine craftsmanship from Germany.

After printing, each piece is hand-sanded and quality-checked. Small differences in the surface are intentional – they make each shelf unique.

PLA is robust and durable – your Shiitake can easily hold books, plants, and decorations.

Easy to care for: Simply wipe with a damp cloth.

Important:

Not suitable for wet rooms or outdoor use. PLA is splash-proof but will deform with continuous moisture or strong heat (above 60°C).

Installation – It's that easy:

Option 1: With Drilling (recommended, most stable hold)

1. Mark the position on the wall – use the mount as a template
2. Drill two holes and insert the wall plugs
3. Screw the invisible mount firmly in place
4. Place the Shiitake Mushroom onto the mount – done!

Time required: approx. 2 minutes.

Option 2: Without Drilling (ideal for rental apartments)

1. Use strong mounting adhesive (e.g., Pattex, not included)
2. Apply adhesive to the back of the mount
3. Press firmly for 30 seconds, then let dry for 24 hours

Pro Tip: Hang several Shiitake Mushroom Wall Shelves of different sizes slightly offset – like mushrooms from Japan growing naturally out of the ground. The shape and gills are particularly impressive when combined with smoother designs like the Amanita mushroom.

How big is the Shiitake wall shelf?

There are 3 sizes: M (9x14x9 cm), L (12x18x12 cm) and XL (15x23x15 cm). M is suitable for small decorations, for plants and books we recommend L or XL.

How much weight can the shelf hold?

Size M holds up to approx. 5 kg, size L up to approx. 8 kg and size XL up to approx. 12 kg. More than sufficient for plants, books and decorations.

What material is the shelf made of?

Made of PLA – a sustainable bioplastic from corn starch. Handcrafted using 3D printing in our manufactory in Heidelberg.

Can
I mount the shelf without drilling?

Yes! In addition to the included screws and dowels, you can also use double-sided adhesive strips. Important: For adhesive mounting, only place light decorations on the shelf.
